经典街机《兽王记》鲜为人知的剧情，魔神到底对雅典娜做了什么
根据官方记载，我们在《兽王记》中使用的主角，乃是远古时期的“野兽人”。他们拥有人类的智慧和野兽的力量，还能将精神转化为能力。当他们的能量储蓄到一定程度时就会进化成为野兽战士。
野兽人的力量日益疯长，那无休止的进化能力，渐渐对神明构成了威胁。随着时间的推移，野兽人在地球上已经战无不胜，这时候他们欲望越来越强烈，甚至萌发了成神的邪念，企图取代神明控制大地。
野兽人的这一举动最终引发了众神的愤怒，弹指间全族被灭，灵魂被封印在石碑之中。直到一千年后大魔神Neff的出现……
魔神的大军突然出现在地狱，并轻松击败了哈迪斯的大军，企图将地狱打造成为对抗神明的基地。战败之后的哈迪斯不得不求助宙斯，希望宙斯能够发兵帮自己夺回地狱。宙斯自然也明白唇亡齿寒，遂派出了自己最引以为傲的女儿，正义与智慧的战争女神雅典娜，对魔神发出了总攻。
然而，令所有神明都比较意外的是，“打架就没怕过谁”的雅典娜竟然不敌魔神Neff，甚至还被他擒获了。期间受尽屈辱，甚至对雅典娜使用了黑魔法改造身体，将其变成了一只小鸟。意识到事态严重的宙斯，不得不借助远古时期的力量，终于解开了“野兽战士”们的封印，只有他们那无休止的进化能力可以击败魔神。
宙斯复活了两位野兽战士精英，也就是我们使用的主角，并对他承诺：只要救出雅典娜并击败魔神，他的全族都可以复活。
而故事也就从这里开始了。
游戏开始后，宙斯将野兽战士复活，并说道：
I command you to rise from your grave and rescue my daughter
我命你从坟墓里爬起来，去救我的女儿。
被封印了千年的野兽战士，体内蕴藏着就连神明都惧怕的强大力量。还能在战斗中吸收能量球进化。
野兽战士最恐怖的能力，就是可以瞬间适应战场，变身之后拥有极为强大的破坏能力。野兽战士在街机版中可以进化成为：狼、虎、龙、熊和金狼
进化之后霸气十足，面部狰狞，一看就知道是惹不起的主。看看他们的表情，多吓人啊！额，好像图片放错了！
这样才对嘛！
那么，我们在路上遇到的那些敌兵和BOSS又有什么来历呢？
Three-Headed Wolf 地狱犬
直译的话就是三头狼，是来自地狱中比较生猛的怪物，同时也是贯穿整个游戏中最重要的敌兵。因为白色的地狱犬提供野兽战士急需的“能量球”，玩家能不能进化全靠它们。但是捕捉地狱犬却非常困难，移动速度快，很容易被他反撞一下。
他的原型很有可能是来自希腊神话中的“Orthrus”，也就是双头犬。我们仔细看的话，游戏中的地狱犬的的确确只有两个头。
Slow Foot and Headless Horror
这两只僵尸是游戏中最初也是最弱的敌兵，一个将骷髅头提在手上，另一个接近主角就会爆炸。
Grave Master
一关的精英怪，近战能力比较强，清除石碑速度极快。在后期的洞穴中还会出现。
Chicken Stinger
估计很多玩家都注意到了同时世嘉的《兽王记》和《战斧》有很多相似的地方，无论是画风还是系统似乎都非常的接近。没错，这两款游戏的策划人都是同一个：Makoto Uchida。有意思的是，在这两款游戏中出现了同一只怪物，在战斧中被称为“鸡腿”的坐骑，在《兽王记》中则是“鸡刺”，专门进攻对手的下盘，非常阴险。
游戏中的敌兵比较多，基本上每一关出现的都不一样。而且这些敌兵都是在每一关中重复出现的。另外还有：
在游戏每次BOSS大战之前，我们都会看到魔神Neff正在触发一个闪电阵，似乎正在召唤什么。玩家要是此时已经变身的话，这个魔神就会直接变成BOSS；而玩家要是没有变身的话，魔神就会暂时隐退。
当年我们还一直以为这个BOSS比较有性格，必须和拥有完美实力的男主决战。后来才知道，原来这个BOSS需要男主身上的能量球，因此故意放任他去收集。而在游戏前期出现的魔神，全都是假的，真正的魔神必须是最后一关才会出现的。那时候收集了大量能量球的魔神，已经进化成为一只无敌的犀牛了。
游戏中的BOSS，分别是：Aggar、Octeyes、Moldy Snail、Crocodile Worm、Van Vader。
一关BOSS：Aggar，腐烂王，它的身体是由各种断肢残骸组合在一起的。假魔神通过黑魔法将战争之后的尸体进行重组，就成为了一关BOSS，拥有无限的头颅可以攻击玩家。
二关BOSS：Octeyes，八眼仙人掌，不知道这玩意到底是植物还是动物。它的外表看上去像是仙人掌，扎根在洞穴之中，然而它的攻击方式却是召唤眼球。
三关BOSS：Moldy Snail，龙形蜗牛，拥有龙的形态，却能龟缩在蜗壳之中，是地底中的霸主。
四关BOSS：Crocodile Worm，鳄鱼蠕虫，可以吐出火球和小的红色恶魔。虽然是后期的BOSS，但是难度却是最小的。
五关BOSS：Van Vader，魔神本体，在吸收了大量能量球之后，魔神终于变成了最终的形态。
说实话，前面的BOSS看上去都还像那么多回事，反而最终BOSS看上去太过于平淡无奇了。不过魔神的确拥有最强的攻击力和防御力，堪称是血牛。玩家需要和它搏斗很长一段时间才能将其干掉。在《无敌破坏王》中Van Vader还曾经在里面进行过客串，担任反派角色进行线下聚会。
